Shane Benoit
At the end of his longest day.
Black Belt Test, 8-2005

On Saturday, August 20th, 2005, Shane successfully completed a long and extremely rigorous test to receive the award of his first degree black belt, earning him the title of "Shodan"

This achievement qualifies him to join the teaching staff of American Karate Academy, moving from "Jr. Instructor" to Instructor. Within a couple of months, he will go on to earn the title of "Sensei Shane."

To earn his black belt, Shane had to demonstrate a proficient knowledge in many facets of martial arts in an extensive written exam. This was followed by several hours of proving his skill and mastery in the areas of sparring, self defense, forms and endurance.

Shane realizes that this accomplishment is only the first plateau of a lifelong journey of improvement. He believes as his instructors, that this step qualifies him to "Begin" the real trek into the more advanced techniques and practices of a martial artist.
