for...Amy...at age 6 by Richard A. Nelson from his book, "Family"
Amy (all grown up) with husband Kevin
& daughter Victoria
A Loving Father (Kevin Mayfield)
As dear as a teddy and cute as a bug,
She is our L'l pixie so cuddly and snug.
This lovable thing is our youngest of kin,
She's a blondish doll named Amy Lyn.
Whereever she goes the sun seems to shine;
Her presence brings us joy time after time.
With tears she is quick to break with your heart,
But when it is time her laughter will start.
To parents responsive, to siblings kind,
What is in her heart is easy to find.
She's slow to complain and ready to help;
Her unselfish care is easily felt.
Amy, my dear, may your heart of soft gold
Be spent upon all and to Christ be sold.
May the years ahead be as rich as the past;
May you build up a life that will truly last.
May the Spirit and Word soak your whole life
E'en when you're mature as a lovely wife.
Be single and pure, for nothing else search:
Be filled up with God for Christ and the church.
